I have extensive experience providing training and directing workshops throughout the United States. I have trained students from middle school to medical school, business, and professional groups, church groups, and conference attendees.

 

I have conducted short workshops as well as ongoing trainings. I have designed numerous workshops and have the capacity to bring in specialists in a variety of areas. My philosophy is to gear the training to the needs of the group and not to come in with a canned presentation. My goal is always to assist both groups and individuals with organizational and personal growth and change.

My areas of expertise include:

Diversity: As a trained diversity consultant I have developed and taught workshops, trainings, and week-long institutes on areas of privilege around race, gender, class, ability, and sexual orientation. My philosophy in this area is to insure that the training is truly geared toward social change and not just a check mark to say a company, or group has done diversity training. I have received extensive training in the Tavistock Method in order to assist me in this work and to bring a deeper understanding of issues around authority and power to the workplace training.

 

LGBTQ Issues: I have a broad knowledge base in this area that includes biological, psychological, and sociological aspects. I have designed trainings for heterosexual staff and professionals around sensitivity issues and heterosexual privilege. As a psychoanalyst, I have extensive knowledge of identity formation, and the ways a minority sexual identity shapes character development.

 

Male Survivor Issues: I have taught seminars and workshops for years both to professionals and survivor groups. My expertise is in issues for male survivors. I was an invited speaker to the Third National Adult Male Survivor Conference where I was asked to speak to issues about gay adult male survivors. I subsequently presented at the conference in Arizona; Washington, D.C.; Columbus, Ohio; and Portland, Oregon broadening my work to co-lead workshops for therapist’s who were themselves adult male survivors.
